Notes from the path between curiosity and engineering

A reflection on learning through study, projects, hackathons, leadership, and the decision to build with purpose.

My interest in technology began with curiosity: how systems work, why some digital experiences feel simple, and how an idea becomes something another person can use.

Studying Computer Engineering and Computer Science gave that curiosity structure. Algorithms, data structures, databases, networks, operating systems, and artificial intelligence are different subjects, but together they reveal the same principle: dependable technology is built from connected decisions.

Learning became more useful when it became practical

Programming concepts changed when I started applying them to complete projects. A database was no longer only a coursework topic; it became the structure behind tasks, semesters, notifications, and user progress. Responsive design was no longer a collection of breakpoints; it became a responsibility to make the same experience understandable on different devices.

Building creates questions that theory alone may not surface. How should the data be organized? What happens when a request fails? Which feature matters first? How will another developer understand this decision later?

Hackathons taught focus and communication

Hackathons compress the product process. A team must understand a problem, choose a direction, build under pressure, and explain the result clearly.

The experience taught me that presentation is part of engineering. A solution must not only work; people need to understand the problem, the reasoning, and the value behind it.

Leadership expands the definition of learning

As President and General Coordinator of Build & Learn TI, I see learning as a shared process. A student community grows when people can exchange knowledge, ask questions without fear, and turn individual curiosity into collaborative progress.

Teaching, coordinating, and learning from others also expose gaps in my own understanding. Explaining an idea clearly is one of the best ways to test whether I truly understand it.

The direction is becoming clearer

I am still exploring software engineering, AI, data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and product design. The goal is not to collect technologies. It is to develop the judgment required to choose the right approach for a real problem.

I do not just want to write code. I want to build technology that improves people's lives.
